4-H Junior Camp 2024

Junior 4-H camp, also known as “4-H Camp” is the original 4-H camp! We go to the Clyde York 4-H Center and have an amazing experience exploring outdoor recreation, crafts, shooting sports, and so much more. Kids learn to deal with independence, staying away from home, and being responsible for themselves as well as fellow campers.

Who can attend? 4th-6th Grades; Adults and teens can apply to volunteer. There is currently a wait list for females. We still have spots for males.

Who runs the camp? Level III 4-H Volunteers, Agents, and Camp Staff

How much is camp? $345

When is it? June 17-21st, 2024

Where is it? Clyde York 4-H Center, Crossville, TN

What does it include? Youth will get a shirt, transportation, name badges/wallets, and 2 meals on 1 day, 3 meals Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and 1 meal on Friday. They will get to swim, kayak, canoe, paddleboard, fish, participate in shooting sports, dance, zip line, and so much more! Youth will also have an opportunity to do some traditional camping things like use the 4-H Wildlife Center, Recreation and Nature Studies, Campfires, Crafts, and Games.

What does it not include? There is a gift shop, a canteen, a soda machine, and a craft house. If you have a youth who wants to participate in those activities, we recommend you pack an extra $25 or set a budget with kids. ($10 bill, $5 bill, $5 in $1 bills)

When are things due?

  • If utilizing a payment plan there will be three payments of $115:

    • April 15th
    • May 17th
  • Registration Forms Due and a parent meeting: May 2nd
    • Parent Guardian and Camper Orientation will also be held with sign-in at 5:15 PM registration, 5:30 meeting starts.
  • Payment in full or third payment due by May 17th
  • Health Forms Due: May 17th

How can I pay for it? You can pay cash or check to the UT/TSU Extension Overton Office in full or use another option. There are additional methods too.

  • Apply for a scholarship- We have several scholarships available. We take into consideration financial need, participation in 4-H, and desire to help with future 4-H programs into consideration when deciding who receives scholarships.
  • Paper Clover Week- We ask all campers, regardless of financial need, to sign up for one shift at the Livingston Tractor Supply. Members volunteer next to the workers there and ask for donations towards camp. Some campers use the money towards their trip, others allow us to use it for our general camp fund. Camp costs us more than $345, but these fundraisers help offset the remaining balance. You can sign up for available shifts here: https://tiny.utk.edu/pc
  • Donation Calendar- A donation calendar allows kids and sponsors to visualize how many people can donate to help your child go to camp. It makes it feel more feasible and doable!
  • Do three payments of $115. We will call you if you miss the deadline. You can also choose the amount, but we prefer no more than three payments.

What paperwork will I have to fill out?

  • F600-A – Activity and Event Acceptance Form (PDF)- Allows us to give medicine, first aid, take pictures, and send them for emergency care.
  • F834 – Event and Activity Misconduct Management Guidelines– Tells you the general policy and procedures for bad behavior.
  • F600-R – Member Release Form– This form is if you have to pick up and/or return a child early from a 4-H event.
  • F600-M – Parental Consent Form for Self-Administration of Medication– If you have a child on medications, we collect all medications and dispense them at the first aid station. We cannot accept medication outside their original container, expired, or if it does not match their paperwork. One 600-M must be filled out for each medication. When you arrive to the event, you will turn this form in, with the medication, inside a gallon zip lock bag.
  • Registration Form– Each event has it’s own registration form you may be required to fill out. Download it, print it, fill it out, and pay at our office. We can also mail you one with the other papers.
  • Adult Volunteers – F600-B – Health History for Volunteer or Paid Staff Members (PDF)- If you are an adult and have been accepted as a volunteer, this is the form you will turn in.

My child has a disability, has food allergies, or I have a very specific question about the facilities. Where can I find more information? On our registration form, we ask you to let us know if you have anything we should be aware of. For example, if you had a child that is wheelchair bound: we’ve had kids like yours! We will try to make Overton County’s Cabin closer to access things, there are wheelchair stalls, we could potentially bring their aid with us, there is a lift in the pool, smaller bows to help them, and so much more! If it is a food allergy, the camp staff keeps the labels of all the food ingredients and can meet with you to show you around. You can view pictures and learn more on their website.

When can I drop off and pick up my child? The schedule for drop off and pick up is flexible. We will send a more accurate one closer to camp. For planning purposes, this is similar to what we have done in previous years. It will changed based on amounts of youth registered.
