Overton 4-H Archery

On November 6th, new and returning archery families gathered for the annual sign-up meeting. Mrs. Alyssa was joined by volunteer archery coaches Derek Zachary, Jada Zachary, Keri Burnette, Ashley Story, Eysha Smith, and Brian Bull to discuss the upcoming season, which starts on January 12th and 13th, 2026. 4-H archery offers classes for beginners all the way through advanced youth, with practices continuing until mid-April, when the state tournament takes place. Youth learn new skills in decision making, science, grow confidence, and even get a little exercise through this shooting sport. This program has grown over the last several years. Overton 4-H coaches over 5 different time slots on Mondays and Tuesdays to ensure there is room for all those interested in participating. Tuesday’s schedule includes a daytime slot geared for the homeschool family schedule. Don’t have a bow? No problem, we have bows for youth to use throughout the season and at contests.

We are grateful to the NRA and Friends of the NRA, two organizations that have contributed significantly to the Overton 4-H archery program over the last 7 years.

There are still spots available in each class. Reach out to Mrs. Alyssa by phone (931-823-2735) or email (aande107@tnstate.edu) for more information or to answer questions. We are always looking for sponsors. If you are interested or know of a company that would want to sponsor, we have logo spots available on our jerseys. All donations, large or small, go directly in support of the growing shooting sports program in Overton County.
