Overton County 4-H is excited to announce the launch of a 4-H Robotics Club designed for youth in 4th through 7th grades. This hands-on club will introduce young learners to the exciting world of robotics, coding, and creative problem-solving in a fun and supportive environment. Overton County 4-H is one of just 8 counties from across Tennessee to take part in a Sphero Challenge Grant, awarding us with a kit worth $600.
Club members will work with Sphero robots, learning the basics of coding and simple robotics functions while developing critical thinking skills. Youth will take on problem-solving challenges, experiment with robot movement and sensors, and use their creativity to design and build obstacle courses and maps for their robots to navigate. The club emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and learning through exploration.
To ensure a high-quality, interactive experience, participation is limited to just 7 youth. Meetings are tentatively planned to begin in March 2026, with a special opportunity to hold two Robotics Challenge Days during spring break (the week of March 16–20, 2026). These challenge days will allow participants to put their skills to the test in extended, hands-on activities.
Space is limited and expected to fill quickly. Families interested in reserving a spot should contact Mrs. Alyssa by email at aande159@utk.edu for more information and registration details.
This new 4-H Robotics Club offers a unique opportunity for Overton County youth to explore STEM, build confidence, and have fun while learning skills that will benefit them far into the future.
